Southern Oak City Daily News, 2024
A3 newspaper, black and white.

As a child of ten years old, I had many dreams. First and foremost I wanted to be a witch, but at the same time a professional skateboarder, minister of education and journalist were also options I considered. With this last ambition in mind, I attempted to make a newspaper on different occasions, though none of them were successful. The main reason for this was a lack of patience, but I found myself not capable of producing enough readable text either.

I look back at these days with envy now. Though I might not have been capable of producing a newspaper, I had made for myself an imaginary world I would never be able to level with again. This world functioned as a way of combining all my dreams and channelling the identity crisis resulting from the unreconcilable image of a robed witch on a skateboard. I might not have realised it at the time, but these were the first signs of growing up.

During my childhood, this imagination felt limitless and unjudged. The creations and play were in function of the dreams and visions I had for this world I had built. Therefore they could not be the subject of criticism or mockery, though they were open and accessible to enter and share with others. From the point of view of an adult, twenty years later, it is difficult not to idealise this time and not to forget the imaginary world was an answer to the incomprehensible reality and overwhelming world surrounding me as a child.

In a search to reconnect to this limitless imagination, I created this newspaper, based on stories and drawings from my childhood, in combination with contemporary drawings and text to bring the world of my childhood to life. Though I might not be able to experience my childhood imagination again, I now have the tools and skills to execute the projects I wasn't able to complete before.

This newspaper is not a collection of individual stories but gives you small amounts of information on what was important to me as a child.

It is an invitation to imagine your own version of the world presented to you while going through the pages. Though it wasn't easy to exclude my framework as an adult, I tried to stay true to the perspective of a ten-year-old me.

	Bildy Mobile Shop, 2025-2026

The Bildy Mobile Shop tells the story of six women, their talents and history. It is a foldable, mobile market stall that creates conversations and exchanges about handcrafted knowledge passed on. It is a card game, a fortune-telling wisdom tool, a way to find new perspectives. To question things we take for granted. From positions we hold to the items we own.

Since 2024, Liselore has been collaborating with Einat Tuchman on presenting and connecting products made by women in Brussels to an unexplored audience. In this process, they have been focusing on the talent and labor of women, often performed in the context of the home, to make them visible and bring them into a public context. But also to recognise the stories behind the craft, the knowledge, and their histories as a part of the cultural threads that belong to the city and its multicultural identity.

The Bildy Mobile Shop exists out of a cargo bike that can hold a selection of objects, to criss-cross through Brussels and station itself in different places to open up as a market stall. By taking the shape of a market stand, it wants to connect to the tradition of the market as a place of encounter, news gathering, and exchange. A performative space, as much as an economic one. It questions consumption, the relationship we have to production and material, and tries to reconnect the consumer with the maker. Alongside trade, the market holds a space for entertainment and play. In the form of card games and fortune telling, Liselore and Einat developed in 2025 a visual storytelling tool that brings the different approaches of the women's crafts and practices, their history, and the collaborative process between the two artists and the designers to the foreground.

In collaboration with Einat Tuchman, Layla Azahaf, Latifa Bagdouri, Aïcha El Kahak, Shabanou-Elikia MLR, Salomé Sibomana, and Samira Chihib and Maxime Habyalimana. With the support of the VGC, Cultuur Anderlecht, Espacetous and N0dine

	Marché Bildy Markt

 (English version coming soon)

	Curious Practice
2025- ongoing
Curious Practice is an open structure for play and creativity where a collective process is formed to challenge individual and competitive norms within the arts. As a long-term research project, it poses the question: How can we collectively spark creativity to support different individual practices and find alternatives for a rivalry-based economy?

In October 2025, the residency space of NICC opened up as a place for research, experimentation, and reflection through collective drawing games or protocols. Where Liselore Vandeput invited Johanne Morgat Shan, Shoshana Walfish, Eszter Némethi, Joris Hilfert, and Elias Driesen to bring a shared drawing protocol that would propose an invitation to a collaborative form of practice and play.
These first steps explored the different forms of working collaboratively as visual artists, from the anonymity of working in series with a dozen people on the same result, to the invitation of working on your own practices through proposed drawing exercises. As the different forms of collaboration unfolded, underlying emotions, insecurities, and pressures shifted from private experience to collective discussion. They were being recognised as something inherently connected to the artistic labor and seen as the burden that comes with the work.

During the residency, the different protocols were shown in the NICC vitrine, as part of their NICC vitrine take-over program.

Am I Lost In The Labour, Or Is This My Own Design? (2024)

(English version coming soon)

	To Marie / Aan marie 2021 - 2024
To Marie / Aan Marie (2021-2023)

Series of A5 papers in plastic sleeves with paper tape and 120 pelargoniums

On 10 July 2021, I received the most extraordinary birthday present. At midnight, my housemate handed me a plant and told me very proudly that it was the plant of the mother of Jef Geys. After the initial shock of owning a plant that had passed through the hands of an artist who has so far been very important to my own artistic practice, Jef Geys, I started thinking about Geys' mother and registering her plant. Curious about where it might take me, I followed the plant's example.

Spending a lot of time on the plant and its naming created a series of questions about the status of women, the position of the plant in our culture and society, its link to social class or nature, and what the right name for it might be. The project tells a story about an ordinary plant and ordinary people. How does a collective memory cause miscommunication? And what happens if it does not matter what your real name is if others call you differently?

Geranium is a living organism deeply rooted in human culture and daily life, making it infinitely complex and layered. With an intercultural sense of homeliness and notions of beauty, it is a non-human that seems to occupy the opposite position of the “monster,” “exotic,” or so-called “invasive species.” It is comfortable, uncharismatic, recognisable, ubiquitous, and does not scream for attention but hums in the background, almost innocently.
The geranium offers a context and an excuse to engage with the urban environment and people: passersby who notice it, gardeners, plant enthusiasts, and those who care for small flowers. It has continuously interested me since I received a geranium for my birthday in 2021. The geography of the geranium took me from the balconies of Peterbos in Brussels to the royal garden of the Belgian king, to paintings on small plates under flowerpots in Liège, and to the small garden of my partner's retired father in northern Iran.

The project contains a series of A5 plastic covers with images, text, photocopies and screenshots of conversations. This form of presentation refers to the work of Jef Geys, his archiving and presentation of collections, drawings, notes and work through the years. It is connected to the glass window by paper tape and numbered from left to right.

	The Artist Travel Agency2022 - 2024
Installation (two wooden, rolling desks, two computers, lightbox, red vests, nametags, paper, drawings, 3 plastic plants, postcards, framed documents, etc.)

The Artist Travel Agency is a dynamic and changing installation that functions as a research environment to reflect and think of ways to develop a sustainable artistic practice. The project was first created in 2022 for the duo exhibition On and Off the Clock with artist Inga Gerner Nielson. It is a playful and colourful parody of a travel agency where concepts of labour, work and free time are ambiguously and undefined through the eyes of a young artist exploring the complexity of the different aspects of the artistic landscape.
The Artist Travel Agency is also a functioning body for discounted tickets and accessible free-time activities as it is a recognised partner of Iedereen Verdient Vakantie and Vrijuit.

The installation takes form according to the pressing questions of the moment: for the exhibition in 2022 the question of what is work? How do we define work and when are we working? Was a main concern. However, over the years more complex questions on the artist-economy and the relationships between different jobs of artists came into frame.

In January of 2024, The Artist Travel Agency was part of a residency at The Green Corridor, with a main focus on understanding how different funding bodies and alternative economy proposals function within a system of permanent scarcity. What does it mean for the livelihood of an artist when an institution doesn't have enough working budget? Who keeps their job? Who can pay the rent? As an environment for new understandings and ideas, the project produces independent works that stand on their own and can be part of different contexts without needing the support of the travel agency set-up. Am I Lost In The Labour, Or Is This My Own Design? (2024) as a result of the work done in The Green Corridor, and made later that year for the exhibition of The Solo Project.

Though the project works as an environment for exchange, research and reflection, it also bridges to a larger society. The Artist Travel Agency is operated by travel agents that do not have an artist practice. Professionals who in their day job employ artists, work with artists or have a connection to labour or free time. They are put in conversation with the visiting or invited artists and art workers about ambiguous working conditions, myths, stereotypes and misunderstandings about the needs regarding work and non-work.

Exhibition: On And Off The Clock

On and Off the Clock is an exhibition project which functions as a set, in which performative actions take place. These actions are diverse; some are discreet and apathetic, while others are affirmed by gestures and words which invoke, under these multiple designations, our cultural rituals.

Inga Gerner Nielsen deploys some of the activities of " THiS INSTiTUTE ", a nomadic institute that she herself recently founded, while Liselore Vandeput dedicates part of the space to one of the first manifestations of a new project, " The Artist Travel Agency ". The first goes in search of situations conducive to her work, the other questions the conditions of leisure. The two artists thus cross their common interests as they question the borders of their practice: a myth, a taboo, a social claim, where does it start, at which moment of the day does it end and according to which criteria, does it ever stop? What is the impact of the contractual framework on the creation, what is the impact of its absence, how to trace the modalities of conversion, which value takes the utility ? Is it a necessity, what to sacrifice, and why, in the name of the creation, … ? Questions that they formulate on a background of malicious misunderstandings, of fertile duplicity. Together and individually, they let themselves be, carried by the desires and the paradoxes that constrain them and thus take advantage of the intimate and political conditions that determine the economy of artistic practices. Having in common the ancestral symbolic institutions of proximity, both scrutinize the meshes and the escapes of an immateriality that are those of art and of life.

" THiS INSTiTUTE ", by Inga Gerner Nielsen, is thus less a place than a space-time of reinforcement of the attentions which she initiates and closes according to conditions judged appropriate, in a concern of collective maintenance tinged with cheerful activism. The stake of this practice is thus characterized by a relational approach which is established with the audiences of its performances, and through systems of addresses conceived specifically for the various social contexts, to induce sensitive modalities of the thought. Her starting scenarios take various forms, such as sessions inspired by methods of picture analysis from iconology, or trekking sessions in the vast Scandinavian expanses. Inga's work is in fact infused with the tools of self-analysis regarding the powers and formations of symbolic imaginaries, which lead her to question the heritage of her Protestant culture, both in its manifest dimensions from urban perspectives, to its most latent expressions in the depths of her aesthetic sensibilities. Through her research, she has come to probe the apparitions of singularly feminine figures and postures to note the permanent hand-to-hand reconciliations, notably the decisive influence that motherhood has had on her practice as an artist, while fearing the essentialist leanings of a complementarity of these roles.

Between the dedication as a social worker and the socio-political commitments of the artist, Liselore Vandeput perceives the risks of a dispersion of the self. This is why she has imagined, not without irony, " The Artist Travel Agency ", a project that allows her to speculate on the causes of a non-place and to consider the problematic absurdity of the productivity of free time and the precarious situation of the art workers in cultural capitalism. For the first public activation of this research destined to grow in the coming months, the fictitious and nevertheless functional travel agency is exposed by a series of elements articulated around this double workstation ; an information desk and a reservation desk, which will be sometimes taken in charge either by the artist or by two performers. A series of attributes will reinforce the mimetic aspirations of the service company.

Proposed as a scenario format that is as open as it is sensitive to the influence of context, On and Off the Clock is also an archive in progress that feeds on the dialogues between the artists and their installations over the course of the exhibition.

	Tea Ceremony (2022)

Performace, reading session in English, French and Dutch
For two years, Liselore Vandeput and a group of women from Peterbos have been meeting every Tuesday. They have been talking about various topics and by June 2022 created the project À Ma Chère Arrière Arrière Petite Fille together. Every single one of these meetings has started with tea and something sweet. It is the opening ritual to create a space of sharing and connection.
For the end event of the Artis in Society Award, Liselore wrote a letter to the eleven participants who were part of the project À Ma Chère Arrière Arrière Petite Fille. A reflective letter from her point of view on the project about the process, her personal experience, doubts and memories. How she left the project brought the group closer together and how she wants to keep on sharing her artistic practice with the women. Translated into French, Dutch and English the letters were read to the audience after sharing tea and cake.

À Ma Chère Arrière Arrière Petite Fille (2022)Digital space:
http://arrierepetitefille.motherline.be/

With Malika Benchama, Fatiha Benomar, Nabiha Bousehabi, Yamina Charrak, Farida El Bannani, Aicha El Kahak, Aouatif Lamarti, Hsina Masrour, Malika Raouf, Meriem Turchi and Zohra Zlima & Liselore Vandeput

In collaboration with the women group of Femma Quartier Peterbos, Liselore Vandeput invites the stories of mothers and grandmothers into her motherline building. Together they search, map and connect individual stories of mothers and grandmothers into a digital space to address an imaginary future generation. The women participating in this project hold a specific position in their surroundings. They might be the last generation to recollect narratives of heritage, culture, language and migration. They form bridges between past and future and hold the answers to questions that might be being proposed long after they are gone.

The motherline building is an ongoing project in which Liselore Vandeput maps and re-creates stories of her female family history. Every space in the building is dedicated to a different generation in her female line. For this project Liselore opens up the room, representing her story to exhibit the stories of the women she works with at Peterbos.

In colaboration with Aziza François and Sina Seifee
